Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is reportedly planning to attend the NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, scheduled for June 24–25, according to an insider from the Ukrainian presidential office who spoke to AFP on Wednesday.

Although the final decision regarding his physical participation will be made a day before the summit, sources say Zelenskyy’s name has already been included in the preliminary schedule.

“It’s currently on the calendar,” said a senior official. “But the final go-ahead depends on last-minute diplomatic and logistical considerations.”

If confirmed, Zelenskyy’s attendance will mark another major diplomatic push by Kyiv to solidify international support amid its ongoing war with Russia and to ramp up calls for a ceasefire agreement.

🤝 A Platform for Peace and Unity

The NATO summit is being viewed by Ukrainian officials as a strategic opportunity—not just to strengthen military ties with Western allies, but also to emphasize the urgency of peace negotiations.

For months, Ukraine has urged the global community to increase military aid, including advanced air defense systems and long-range weapons. But with growing war fatigue across Europe and internal political shifts in the U.S., Kyiv now faces the challenge of maintaining momentum in its international campaign.

“The summit is a crucial moment for Ukraine,” said political analyst Maria Holenko. “Zelenskyy’s presence sends a powerful message of resilience, leadership, and diplomatic urgency.”

🌍 Why This NATO Summit Matters

The 2025 NATO Summit is expected to focus on:

  • Ongoing support for Ukraine

  • Collective deterrence strategies against Russia

  • Energy security

  • Future of NATO enlargement

  • Cyber defense coordination

As the war grinds on with no decisive victory on either side, Zelenskyy's voice could serve as a moral and strategic anchor, rallying Western nations to stay the course in defending democracy, territorial integrity, and regional stability.
