Less than a week into the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, the battlefield is shifting fast—and not in Israel’s favor. As Tehran unleashes wave after wave of relentless missile strikes, Israel’s advanced defense systems are being stretched to their breaking point.
According to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Al Jazeera and Reuters, Israel is rapidly depleting its stockpile of interceptor missiles. If the current pace of conflict continues, experts warn Israel could face a dangerous shortage within just 10 to 12 days.
The Arrow missile system, crucial for intercepting Iran's long-range ballistic missiles, is reportedly nearing exhaustion. This leaves Israel increasingly vulnerable to incoming threats from the Iranian side.
A senior U.S. official acknowledged that Washington has been aware of the looming crisis for months and has already begun deploying reinforcements across land, sea, and air to bolster Israel’s air defense network. However, even the U.S. is beginning to feel the strain on its own missile stockpiles.
“Neither Israel nor the United States can afford to play a passive role in missile defense any longer,”
warns Tom Karako, Director of the Missile Defense Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they are “fully equipped and prepared to face any scenario.” However, officials declined to comment on the specifics regarding ammunition and hardware supplies.
Meanwhile, Israel seems to be shifting focus toward offense. The IDF confirmed it has already conducted airstrikes on two major Iranian nuclear facilities — Natanz and Isfahan. Another underground facility near Tehran, Fordow, is now reportedly listed in their “target bank.”
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant made it clear:
“Fordow will be dealt with. It’s just a matter of time.”
According to military officials, Israel believes it could achieve its key strategic goals — neutralizing Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear capabilities — within the next one to two weeks.
As tensions reach a boiling point, one thing is certain: the next few days could reshape the balance of power in the Middle East.
