Washington, D.C., June 2025 — A formation of U.S. B-2 Spirit stealth bombers has taken off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, heading west over the Pacific Ocean, according to multiple defense sources and air traffic data. The move has sparked global speculation over whether this deployment is a prelude to a strike on Iran or a tactic to apply diplomatic pressure on Tehran.
The deployment, first reported by AFP, occurs amid a sharp rise in tensions following Iran’s alleged advancements in underground nuclear facilities.
According to Al Jazeera, the bombers may be en route to Diego Garcia, a U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean. Stationing B-2 bombers there would place them within striking range of Iran, needing only one mid-air refueling to reach deep underground targets like the heavily fortified Fordow nuclear facility.

This follows a statement by former President Donald Trump, who said last Thursday he would take two weeks for diplomatic efforts before deciding on a military course of action. According to The New York Times, he has already approved strike planning — hinting that this show of force may be more than symbolic.
